Small talk over a cup of coffee, poetry, and conversation between fellow travellers, are the topics that Gupbjörg Lind takes on in the work Hospitality.
When people stopped on farms for refreshments they had time to tell tales of their travels and listen to the stories of others. If only we had some recordings of all the chit-chat over coffee and cake through the ages, what a wonderful collection that would be.
On display in the exhibition are cups with the left-over chatter all over the floor as if the mistress of the household just abandoned her housework after having shown her hospitality in abundance. The cups are aligned like little boats by the dock for anyone who dreams of going away.
